How to Make Braids Last Longer

A few simple habits at night and in the shower can keep your braids neat for weeks longer than usual.

Braids are an investment of time, so protecting them is worth a little daily care.

Sleep on satin

Cotton pillowcases pull on the scalp and rough up the surface of the braids. A satin or silk pillowcase, or a simple satin bonnet, keeps edges smooth and reduces frizz around the hairline.

Wash gently and less often

When you do wash, use a diluted shampoo in a spray bottle and focus on the scalp, then rinse thoroughly. Pat the braids dry with a towel instead of rubbing, and let them air dry completely before tying them back.

Keep the scalp moisturised

A light oil or leave-in spray along the parting every few days keeps the scalp comfortable and avoids the flaking that makes braids look tired.

At Roro Hair we braid with the hair's texture in mind, so the style sits comfortably from day one. If your braids start to feel tight or heavy, book a check-up rather than waiting.
